Theo & Philo Dark Chocolate w/ Calamansi 65%

Cocoa Origin: Philippines
Producer Country: Philippines
Weight: 45 g

A bar as colourful as its packaging, each bite captures the vibrancy of the Philippines. What I love most about it is the contrasts: the zesty, sour essence of calamansi fruit with rich, robust chocolate; the chewy dried and candied citrus rinds with the velvety, buttery melt. "Refreshing" is not a word one typically uses to describe a chocolate bar, but this one is truly invigorating, like a tangy lime-infused cocktail rimmed with chocolate shavings, beckoning to be savoured chilled on a hot day.

Theo & Philo Dark Chocolate w/ Calamansi 65%

Cacao has a long history in the Philippines but was primarily used for making hot chocolate and exporting to Europe. Theo & Philo saw the opportunity to explore and elevate local cacao and create chocolates that reflect the abundant gastronomic heritage of the Philippines. Each bar offers a taste of unique, culturally specific ingredients using locally-grown cocoa from Mindanao and sugar from world-renowned plantations on Negros Island. The resulting bars are fun, slightly adventurous, and authentic.

Davao City, the largest city in the Philippines by land area and third largest by population, is surrounded by a region of remarkable diversity. Located in the southeastern part of Mindanao, the country's largest island, this area features fertile plains, lush valleys, and Mount Apo, the highest peak in the Philippines. Agriculture is the backbone of Davao, for its bounty of tropical fruits like durian, pomelo, and mangosteen. The region is also a major producer of coffee, coconut, and cocoa. Davao's tropical rainforest climate and nutrient-rich volcanic soil create an ideal environment for cocoa trees, contributing to the region's growing reputation for high-quality cocoa production.
